What are the best ways to prepare our letters for admission? I have researched the field a little bit, but it's not clear what would be most beneficial as far as introductory material.

I think it's being honest and straightforward with the school of your choice. Clearly, you want this school over any other to help you achieve your goals. I believe the letter is the school's way of determining why we are here.
