I am currently a sophomore with a weighted GPA of 4.64; I am currently taking one AP class and I will be taking three next year. I also participate in multiple extracurricular activities (I am in charge of costuming for my school's theater department, I am involved in four different volunteer groups, and I am a part of Science National Honors Society and International Thespian Society). My calculated percentages for my two reach schools (William's and Brown) are both around 8%, is there anything I could do to try and raise my chances?
From my understanding, the thing that top schools look for is leadership and initiative. I would recommend trying to obtain a leadership position in one or both of the honor societies you are apart of. I would also make sure that you detail on your college applications what the organizations you volunteer for are achieving in the community (are they raising money for people in need, providing resources to those who need it, etc.). If you know what you want to major in, I'd also recommend focusing on doing extracurriculars that solely relate to that major. You could also try to win awards/enter contests relating to that major. Good luck!
