I am a sophomore at a very small high school that does not offer any AP classes or Honors, I have a GPA of 3.7 and I'm currently trying to make that better. I also am a dual credit student, My school also lacks really any extracurriculars for me to do. I don't know how to make my profile better since my school is lacking in those arenas.
I’ve heard that lot of colleges consider that when looking at your application. So if you show you didn’t take any AP classes but also that your high school didn’t offer any they’ll take that into consideration
If your school doesn't have extracurriculars to offer you have two options. Either start something at your school. Or go find opportunities somewhere else. It can depend on your major. But say for example you want to be a doctor, you can volunteer in a hospital. You can take an online course about your favorite topic. You can find an internship in the medical sector. You can join science competitions. Self-study for some AP exams. You can try making awareness campaigns on social media about something you care about. Be creative and do something you would enjoy.
I am also a student at a school that does not offer any Honors or AP courses. You might be able to enroll in dual enrollment, which allows you to earn both early college and high school credits. You may also want to look into starting an extracurricular club that you are interested in. For example, if I wanted to go into law, I might start a debate team. Hope this helps and best of luck in your dual credit classes.
One of the best ways to fill out your extracurriculars is to learn a skill. You could try writing and sharing your stories online, learning photography or art, self studying a language, or more. It's also more flexible than other extracurriculars! Best of luck to you my friend. :)
