I applied to SDSU and was waitlisted but just recently got accepted. I am very happy about my acceptance but in my first semester of senior year I took honors pre-calc and got a D and then dropped it the second semester because it was causing me a lot of stress and I decided it would be best to drop it. The problem is that in my SDSU application, I put that I was planning to take pre-calc second semester. My major is public health which I don't need pre-calc for and I already fulfilled the required a-g 3 years of math with A's and B's. Also, my GPA and the rest of my grades are good, I haven't gotten a class grade below B in any of my senior classes except that one pre-calc class. I'm still scared though that it might be revoked because not only did I get a D but I also dropped it when I said that I would take it.
The day after getting accepted I talked to an SDSU admissions counselor about this and she told me to submit a partial transcript and if I don't hear back from SDSU, ill be good to go. I did that and now I'm just waiting for them to respond but I feel like that's not enough. I want to explain to them why I dropped the class and my whole situation so that I don't end up getting revoked.
Any advice?
Though it is easier said than done, I recommend waiting until you hear back from SDSU. They will not immediately rescind your admission over one D. At most, they may ask you for additional information about the situation, and that is when you can explain why you dropped the class. There is a good chance that they will not ask further questions and will let you matriculate as normal. Admission offers are only revoked outright due to multiple unexplained D's or F's on a senior year transcript or ethics violations. Hope this helps!
