Questions about Dual Enrollment
Answered

Hello, after reading some posts about dual enrollment and having taken some dual enrollment classes, I have developed some of the following questions.

1.Does dual enrollment classes look bad when your high school provides those same classes, but the student has taken them in order to be ahead in a way (For example, I was taking precalculus during my sophomore year, but I felt that the class was too easy so I took calculus at a local community college, while my school offers AP calculus AB)

2.Does dual enrollment classes look bad when your high school provides those same classes, but the student cannot fit a class into his schedule so he/she takes it at a cc as a dual enrollment class?

Hey there!

Honestly, I think it'd look better to colleges if you took them as a dual enrollment class even if your school offers the class. Dual enrollment classes are harder than the normal class, and it's weighted on a 5.0 scale! So unless the class held at your school is an AP class. It would definitely be better.

Now, if the course in question that is offered at your school is an AP class, it really just comes down to personal preference since they're weighted the same. For me personally, I would take them through dual enrollment, because you can use those credits towards your AA degree.

Hope this helps!
