I am currently a junior in high school with a 4.0 GPA. At this time, I've taken a college course and an AP English class, which I just recently took an exam for. I await my score by July. As of right now, I am not part of any clubs or sports at my school. It is a relatively small community that is super underfunded, which is why there aren't many extracurriculars for me to do. I'm considering a summer job as well as volunteer work for this summer. Being that my college applications need to be submitted by October-March, I am a bit hesitant about what to do with the lack of things on my resume. In my senior year, I plan to take part in Student Council, Student Leadership, an AP course, and possibly three college courses. Please help if you have any advice for me. I'd like to go to UMiami, UNC, UVA, and a couple more.
If you haven't taken either the ACT or SAT, I would highly recommend that you use the summer and grind on either of these so you have a decent high score above 1400 or above 30 on the ACT, preferably 1450+SAT, 32+ACT if you are going to be applying to these schools.
Remember that if you apply EA or ED to any college you have to do this by Nov.1st so that only gives you about 6 weeks of senior year which will not affect your GPA much or your ECs for that matter.
Therefore, if you need something else to do, I highly recommend taking a college course or two this summer rather than waiting for the fall. It's better to improve your course rigor as soon as possible.
Good Luck
