AP Art History is pretty similar to other AP History courses, and may be a little more complex for those who aren't too interested in Art. I suggest taking AP Art History only if you are interested in Art and have experienced other AP History courses, so that you are used to the exam, writing and curriculum style of comparably simpler courses (AP World or AP US History) as compared to AP Art History. Ap Art History is focused on analyzing art pieces like monuments, paintings, buildings, scultures, etc. and connecting that to historical events unlike other history courses which are simply focused on historical developments, so this course might be a little more complex without any experience with other AP History courses, so I advice taking it during your junior or senior year.
yes! its very much worth it
If you are interested in Art and feel that you can handle an AP class, then go for it. I think you should evaluate your 9th-grade transcript and see if you are up for the challenge. if you are a C or B student, I probably wouldn't recommend any APs right now until you get your grades up in regular or honors classes.

I would consider this class content heavy (memorization), writing focused and requiring deep, creative analysis, so take this class after you've developed these skills or if you already think you're confident about these skills. If AP Art History is your first AP Class, I would highly recommend not taking it. Instead take AP World History and either AP Human Geography or AP Psychology for a prelude to AP Courses and AP History before you take it.
