Admissions Advice

Any advice on what extracurriculars you should be doing in high school if you are interested in the medical field?

I am a sophomore in high school and I am interested in the medical field. I have just decided that I want to go this direction so I do not really feel prepared on what to accomplish these next three years of high school. Please give me some ideas for extracurriculars. Are there any opportunities that look good for college during this pandemic that is related to healthcare, science, or education? Any general activities are welcome too. Thanks!

Try checking out online learning sites to get a head start on studying human biology. Enrolling in Community College Classes and applying for summer immersion/internship programs from reputable institutions or colleges will also help. To get shadows, find local hospitals, and search their records for doctors to shadow to see if you like the work that you may end up doing and try volunteering at hospitals. Contact as many doctors as possible and cast a wide net because many won't respond (Take advantage of any connections you may have).

So shadowing is always good (you can cold call or ask a connection) this may be going on still.

Post Covid you can volunteer in a nursing home.

When school reconvenes a OSHA or other health related club is always great.

These are a few I thought of and Hope this helps. Please comment if you need clarification.
