Admissions Advice

What are some good online Olympiads that will bolster my application letter?(I am planning to major in astronomy)
Answered

I am a second year college student thinking about applying abroad as a transfer student. I heard participating in Olympiads is good for the application process and I wanted to know if there are some particular competitions (preferably free to register) that grant scholarships or are credible by most universities. I am not just interested in Astronomy, anything space related will be just fine. Any comments will be appreciated :)

Participating in online Olympiads can be a great way to showcase your skills and achievements on your application letter, whether it’s for college admissions, scholarships, Pokerogue or job applications.

I'm not an expert on Astronomy, but the IAAC (International Astronomy and Astrophysics Competition) seems to be somewhat pretigious and can also be taken by university students. Unfortunately though, you'll have to wait until 2024 to register, since the 2023 registration is over already. I'm not sure if it costs money to register, but you can research that on your own.

There is another olympiad, called the IOAA, International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics, but to enter the US team you have to be a high school student, so I don't think it's viable for your situation.
