class rank
Answered

Is it bad that my class rank is 36/101 but most people above me have all the honors classes? I was never able to get in because of people who were higher and low self esteem. each honors class has about 22 students. help.

Hi @userr, I'm not completely sure what your question is asking but I'm assuming it's asking for an evaluation and suggestions?

Academic rigor is an important aspect of college admission so you should try hard to get into AP or honors classes as that will show your ability to handle higher level course load. First, I would be totally honest and advise you to get rid of the "low self-esteem" mindset. Other honor students may have that same problem before so reach out to them and gain a more positive academic mindset. Next, show your eagerness to learn by making connections with teachers and current honors students. You could ask them directly to view their assignments to see what is expected of a student. Better yet, ask to sit in during a lesson just to see if that level is of your interest. Lastly, try hard in school, apply learning techniques and time management, and show your school counselor your improvements to hopefully get a spot in an honors class.

However, class rank isn't everything. If you have good extracurriculars as well as a "spike" in your major/topic of interest, you could have better admission chances. Still, remember that even with projects on the side, academic achievement is the most important part of your application.
