How do I figure out what to write my college essay on?
Answered

Pretty much exactly what the title says, I am a rising senior who is still clueless about my college essay. I don't know exactly what I am supposed to be showing in my essay. How did I grow as a person? Who I am? My core values? Also, what are some red or green flags to look out for when choosing a topic or writing? Any advice relating to admissions/applications is greatly appreciated!

Hi, I am also a senior this year who is working on writing essays! From what I know, you are supposed to be showcasing your story, who you are, and what you learned about yourself in high school. They are looking for creativity and unique ways of writing your story. Some "red" flags may be writing a common essay they've heard many times before (like a story about athletics). Some "green" flags are writing creatively and writing in a way that doesn't sound generic. The essay is about you, so make sure to write about you and not a stereotype. Good luck with your application and I hope this helps!
