Admissions Advice

AP chem
Answered

I am going to be a junior next year and I am interested in the pre-med track. I have taken biology, chemistry, and AP biology and did well in all of the classes in the past. For next year, I am debating between taking AP chem and regular physics. If I were to take AP Chem, I would also be taking AP calc, AP psych, and AP spanish (along with us history - dual enrollment, human body systems, and english). On the other hand, if I take physics, I would take it through dual enrollment and would also take APUSH. I am more interested in chemistry but I understand it is a harder class, especially with the rest of the load I am taking. Will it be harmful to my application for college if I take AP chem my senior year?

Definitely not! During the common app process (which you will do next summer around this time) you are able to put future AP classes that you are planning to take. Not being able to take a helpful AP class during your junior year will definitely not hurt your admissions chances at all and I recommend it as it may be too much of a workload during your junior year. Although you should challenge yourself this year, make sure not to go overboard and ruin your gpa in the process. Good luck!
