I took consecutive Spanish classes until Spanish 4 from 8th grade to Junior year but I'm not planning on taking AP Spanish in my senior year. Does this still fit the requirement for Harvard and Princeton of 4 years of a foreign language?
I'm sure it meets the minimum standard but that doesn't mean not taking AP Spanish is a good idea. Remember that many Ivy admits have not only AP language but some independent study as well. It's not uncommon for Ivy admits to have 5-6 years of language and many have 2 languages completed.
If someone checks all the boxes for min. application requirements that doesn't mean they are a competitive applicant because 94-97% of applicants will be rejected from Princeton and Harvard and they all had satisfied minimum standards.
So you really want to exceed min. standards and be more competitive in my opinion. Good luck.
