Hi, I’m currently a junior in Highschool and I need help. I want to major in Engineering in college. The AP classes I signed up for this year are AP Chem, AP Physics 1, APUSH, AP Lang&Comp and AP Calculus BC. That seems like a lot right? I took them because I was a pretty good student last year and had all As, but my level of rigor wasn’t as high as this year and I’m wondering if maybe I was too overconfident in choosing my schedule (I took all honors classes last year, not ap..) I really don’t want to overwhelm and burn out myself.
I definitely want to take ap chem this year because I took it last year and I loved it and the teacher, but for engineering I need physics. I wanted to switch ap physics 1 for ap computer science principles or some easier ap class and then take ap physics c in my senior year (and study physics 1 over the summer). I was wondering if that would be the best idea since AP Physics C would be my first exposure to physics since 7th grade…
I think it'd probably be better to take ap physics 1 this year instead of during the summer; you'd have a teacher to help you, the possibility of college credit, and maybe it being a class would help with motivation compared to during the summer (I mean that personally I'd struggle with that, I'm not trying to say that you're not motivated or anything)
It also seems super relevant to your career path compared to APUSH or AP lang and comp, and I think if the five AP classes are too much one of those might be better to downgrade
Disclaimer: I'm taking AP Chem this year, and I tried to take APUSH last year but the workload quickly proved to be too much for me and I dropped it, but I've never completed any of the classes you're taking so I can't give a good idea of what the workload will be like

Hi, thanks a lot for the response. The only thing is that I took ap us 1 last year (the way my school is set up is they split APUSH 1 and 2 but you take the actual exam in apush2) so it would look bad to colleges to drop from ap to honors, especially when I passed. And for lang it would give me around 4 college creds if I pass the exam. Either way, I can’t rlly get rid of those 2 classes :( I’ll definitely consider ur advice though.
