Here are the steps on how to become a pediatric dentist at VCU:

1. Complete your undergraduate education with a strong academic record. The minimum overall GPA is 2.5, and the average overall GPA of admitted students is 3.2 or higher. You should also take courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics.

2. Take the Dental Admission Test (DAT). The DAT is a standardized test that measures your academic and problem-solving skills. The average DAT score for admitted students to VCU dental school is 20.8.

3. Shadow a dentist. Shadowing a dentist is a great way to get hands-on experience and learn more about the profession. You can find shadowing opportunities through your school, local dental society, or online.

4. Complete dental prerequisites. In addition to your undergraduate degree, you will need to complete specific dental prerequisites, such as anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and biochemistry.

5. Apply to dental school. The application process for dental school can be competitive. Be sure to carefully review the requirements for VCU dental school and submit a strong application.

6. Interview with VCU dental school. If you are invited to interview, be prepared to answer questions about your academic record, shadowing experience, and why you want to become a dentist.

7. Attend VCU dental school. If you are accepted to VCU dental school, you will begin a four-year program that will prepare you to become a dentist.

Here are some additional tips for becoming a pediatric dentist at VCU:

Get involved in extracurricular activities that are related to dentistry, such as volunteering at a dental clinic or participating in a dental club.

Network with dentists and other healthcare professionals. This will help you learn more about the profession and get your foot in the door.

Be passionate about dentistry. This will show admissions committees that you are committed to the profession and that you will be a good fit for VCU dental school.

The GPA you need to have as a high school student to get into the VCU pediatric dentistry program is 3.2 or higher. However, it is important to note that this is just the minimum GPA. The average GPA of admitted students is 3.6. So, if you want to be a competitive applicant, it is important to strive for a high GPA.
