Does knowing current student at a college help with admission chances?

Hi all,

I'm thinking to apply to UPenn ED this fall. I know a couple of current students at UPenn, but I'm only particularly close with one of them. UPenn asks you to put in ways you learned about the college in their questions, and one of the option is "current students".

I'm wondering if knowing more current students at UPenn help with admissions?

Thank you!

Knowing older peers that attend a college has no bearing on your admissions.

Some schools like Dartmouth have a 3rd recommendation which is a peer recommendation so that can be either someone you currently attend school with or someone in the undergraduate class at Dartmouth who knows you and can vouch for your personal character. In that specific instance, knowing someone does impact your college admissions process.

Good luck.
