Research

I did an internship over the summer where I researched about a certain type of cancer- read articles about it, with regards to its pathology and genetics. I looked at the genes upregulated and downregulated and stuff and connected functions of the genes to the overall characteristic of the disease.

Does this count as research for college apps? I'm asking this because I didn't work in a lab but with a mentor at home.
