Admissions Advice

Is it weird/bad to say something in the personal statement and then contradict it later (not exactly lying)?

For example, maybe I said in my personal statement that I only care about the education in college. However, when I got an offer, I ask about housing, scholarships, class times, and a bunch of other stuff, so clearly I don't actually just care about the education.

Or maybe I showed that I'm super motivated to work hard in college, but after starting classes there I'm frequently late or absent.
