What should I major in, to become apart of "Children Advocacy Centers"?
Answered

My whole life, I have always wanted to make a change for children who have been through what I have. I found this job, and it's like it spoke to me. This is a Job I truly wish to have when I am done with College. But the problem I have is deciding what to major in, Social Work or Criminal Justice. Either works for this profession. I would learn psychology in criminal justice and social work. I just need help knowing what to do, Double Major or do one or the other.

My sister works at a child advocacy center and is a recent graduate. She loves her job and has always wanted to work for a non profit. She majored in political science with a focus in non profits. I talked to her and she said that most of the people that work with her have a degree in child psychology or social work. Criminal justice may be a little off track from what you really want to do. Having a minor or certification in something child development could also really help. Hope this answered your question, happy to ask my sister more if you have any other questions :)

Picking criminal justice could take you off track from your goal. Rather than focusing on that, I feel that Social Work would be a better choice. With both Majors, you would learn the information about the law but with Social Work, it would be more specified with working with people and children. Some schools also have Child psychology as an option, but I think that picking social work would be a better option for your career choice.
