Is a 34% chance a decent chance?
Answered

Hi. I'm currently a sophomore in high school and I was testing my chances on here for some schools. I saw a 34% on one of my dream schools, and I couldn't help but wonder if that's a decent chance or not. I'm trying to get my gpa up, and since I'm only a sophomore I haven't taken my ACT or SAT yet. Do you think that this is a good thing, seeing that my gpa is (hopefully) going to get higher and I still haven't taken any major tests yet?

34% chance is relative to what the actual admission rate for the college is. If your dream college has an overall admissions rate of less than 20%, then 34% is better than average and you have a pretty good chance. But if the overall admission rate is 50% or greater, then your 34% is less than what most people are getting.

You can look up overall admission rates by doing a quick search on the internet like "Class of 2027 Admission Rate for Syracuse University" as an example.

Hope that helps.
