What can I do as a sophomore to start helping me get accepted into these colleges that are a reach for me right now?

Obviously, things like GPA and test scores are important, so I would start by working on those by studying and taking prep courses for whichever test you want to take (SAT or ACT), but I would also put a heavy emphasis on extracurriculars. ECs are what set you apart from other applicants. I would try to do ECs like being a part of or starting clubs that have to relate to your intended major in school. Also, doing summer projects or participating in training camps that have to do with your intended major look extremely good on your apps.

make sure to keep your grades up and build study habits that will be effective for your other years of hs. also try to build good relationships with your teachers and get involved more with clubs you were in previously (or join some new ones). try to get some leadership positions and/or show initiative and passion in fields you're interested in!

most importantly, enjoy your sophomore year :)
