I am a senior in high school out of state hoping to get accepted into the University of Houston and My GPA from my sophomore jumped from
a 2.6 to a 3.1 and I want to major in accounting/finance, Do I have a good chance to get in?
University of Houston's median GPA is 3.54, so it might seem hard to get in, but since it's lower quartile GPA (0-25th percentile of acceptances) is 3.20, it's still possible for you to get in. Highlighting your growth from a 2.6 to 3.1 and explaining how that growth will continue in your application will help you get in, since most colleges, UH included, look for growth. Also, at UH Bauer college, a minimum 3.0 GPA is required for admission, meaning you meet the minimum, at the very least. It's hard to say what exactly your chance is since test scores and essays play a large part in admission, but you have a solid shot. I would definitely apply if UH is a school you want to go to.
