I'm currently a junior in high school and love learning about politics and how the government takes place in our everyday life. Architecture is also a career I would like to learn more about, I would love to hear any advice that would be good in deciding if this is a good mix up for college or not. Not really sure if I should choose two different studies to pursue in college and which one to major in or eliminate.
Hello Mariela!
To start off, I'd say to try listing every reason why you would and would not want to major in and minor in both areas of interest. This way, you can weigh the pros and cons to try and decide which mix-up is best for you.
Next, you can look in the long run. Since you're on the fence, look for jobs in the area where you want to live in the future for job outlook (if you already have this area in mind; if not, just look in general). This will show you how much your potential job(s) with your chosen major will increase in the future by the time you apply for a spot (in terms of salary and things like that).
Also, what I'd recommend is taking some classes that relate to your areas of interest before your senior year when you begin the college application process. I'm currently a senior, and in the summer before 11th grade, I took Student Success through Dual Enrollment at my school. One of the major projects for our class helped us solidify what we wanted to do in the future. By this point, I thought I would be a pediatrician. The summer before senior year, though, I decided to take Anatomy and Physiology, and this helped me discover that I wanted to be an anesthesiologist instead. By doing this, I know what I'm looking for in the colleges I'm applying and I also know what I am applying for.
I hope this helps! :D
