Foreign Language
Answered

I'm a junior and I have taken French 1 and a trimester of American Sign Language. Last year my school offered ASL for only a trimester, and now they have it as a full year course. I was wondering if I were to take the full year course. Would it count as two years of a foreign language?

Hello @gg.u! For your question, it is difficult to answer as it varies from school to school, some schools may accept it as 2 years of foreign language while some schools may not. I personally believe that your school counselor will know best!

I don't think it would count as two years. You have to take two years of the same language, like French 1 and French 2. But a trimester wouldn't even count as half a year. I encourage you talk to your school's leadership, such as a teacher or the principal to get more specific answers than mine. Was the ASL trimester counted as 1 credit by your school or 0.5 credit? That is something you may need to ask your school's leadership.

Hope that helps!
