Is a C+ in BiologyI Accelerated for second quarter of freshman year, is this catastrophic if I am aiming for ivy league?
Answered

Although I am still in the middle of my second quarter for Biology I Accelerated (which is weighed the same as AP) I have a single D bringing my grade down for this class. I was wondering how negatively it will likely impact my gpa for the rest of highschool, and if it will prevent Ivy leagues from considering my application. My first quarter gpa is 3.86 uw and 4.14 weighted, while my second quarter right now is 3.71 uw and 4.00 weighted. Cummulatively it is 3.79 uw and 4.07 weighted. Thank you!

Hello! The fact that you are in a class equivalent to AP in 9th grade is pretty impressive to colleges. Having a D in this class will drag your uw GPA down, but if you can manage to get A's in all your other classes throughout high school, it won't have to be big of an effect. Also, colleges take into consideration the difficulty of the class that you have a bad grade in. Your chances aren't ruined, but you may have to have a strong list of EC's and test scores to compensate. You can still make Ivy league. Good luck!
