I want to apply a&m to pursue a degree in marketing, do you think I have a chance?
I've been working for TikTok as a Digital Marketer since I was 15, which means I made advertisements for large companies (NFL, FIFA, AMC, Supercell, Netflix, Rockstar Games, Cinemark, Sony Music, TikTok, Rakuten, Hasbro, Microsoft, etc), and so how much of a factor that would play in my application for a degree in Marketing? I'll also become an Eagle Scout soon, take leadership positions in my school's Audio-Visual Production Club (KCBY Coppell), and plan on doing around 50 hours of volunteer work. Is this a good enough extracurricular set for these schools, or should I do more?
For my extracurriculars, I have a 3.6 GPA unweighted, 4.7 weighted, and haven't taken the real SAT yet, but I've taken a practice test and got a 1320 on it, which I plan on improving in the coming months. I've taken 6 AP courses so far, finished 3 of them (3 this year, 2 Sophomore year, and 1 freshman year), and scored a 3 on each AP exam. My school only does class rank if you are top 10%, I'm not completely sure but I think that if you don't get to the top 10% they don't tell you your rank. Am I cooked or is there a chance?
Im pretty sure it was deleted bro
Oh no...well, maybe I can remember some of it...
You should check the common data set for the school, it should have the MOST accurate information as colleges themselves fill it out (they may not fill out all of the boxes though, so some could be blank). If you are wondering how to find it, just type "common data set (insert your school name)", it will show you the common data set.
I think the digital marketing position will be much to your advantage-colleges love to see early commitment, passion, and demonstrated interest in your career! Big tip for ECs in general: ALWAYS QUALITY OVER QUANTITY.
Your PSAT score is an amazing start! I got a 1320 on my first official test :) I recommend aiming for above 1400 as it is totally achievable and what Texas A&M looks for. Have a goal score so you know when to study and when to stop testing.
I looked up some stats for the school you mentioned (Texas A&M):
Acceptance Rate: Approximately 58%
Average GPA: Around 3.68 (unweighted)
Average SAT: 1170-1380 (middle 50% range)
Average ACT: 25-31 (middle 50% range)
Please keep in mind that these statistics are averages, and individual applicants may have different profiles. It's important to consider other aspects of your application, such as extracurricular activities and personal statements, as these can also impact your chances of admission."
I recommend taking a few APs in senior year and just keep up the good work! I don't think Texas A&M is too far of a reach for you.
Hope this helps and lmk if you have more questions! Hoping I remembered everything I originally submitted XD
You have an impressive resumé and decent grades so with some good essays you should be good
