i’m planning on studying physics too (both bachelors and doctorate degrees), any suggestions?
nope😞
OK..I'll try again :)
Your GPA, test score, and class rank is excellent!
This really depends on the school. If you are aiming for Ivy League universities, they consider ECs quite important. However, please, please always prioritize QUALITY OVER QUANTITY! Scrambling to do as many ECs as you can is not worth it. Do things YOU are passionate about. They would rather see a specfic are of demonstrated interest shown by 5 ECs vs. a dozen unrelated ECs. Basically, if you only have a few ECs but you spent much time on each, it shows more commitment than an EC here and an EC there. Do what you love and the rest will take care of itself. Another way you can emphasize your passion is through the essay. (here's a helpful post I made on it: collegevine.com/c/junior/49537/make-your-essay-stand-out)
Also, I will say that Ivies are not necessary for a successful career. Find the school that will best train you for your specific career and interest vs. the most prestigious program. I have chosen a lesser school b/c it will train me properly with hands-on experience. It really depends from person to person; do what's best for you, not what our culture pressures!
Hope this helps! LMK if you have more questions :)
