Hello, I have seen that Harvard doesn't necessarily require 4 years of a foreign language, it's just highly recommended. I would really rather focus my time on other things that align with my major (physics) instead of worrying about taking AP Spanish. Would it look bad if I didn't take 4 years of Spanish to Harvard? Should I really do 4 years?
Hello
I am a high schooler concurrently working on a physics degree, so I think I can answer this.
Physics and many STEM fields do not require 4 years of foreign language, but it strengthens your resume. I would recommend going up to Spanish 3 and then asking your counselor (and college admission counselors) for advice on going to Spanish 4. I am personally taking Spanish 4, but that's because college Spanish is only 1 semester. It would be ideal to take all four years, as it shows diversity, but taking three and then prioritizing stem classes is also great.

I should probably add that most Ivy-Level schools love to see 4 years, but institutes and stem-based places (Caltech, MIT, etc.) are fine with 3 as long as you take a stem class instead.
