Admissions Advice

Does moving countries affect my admission process negatively?

Hi! I moved from Africa to Canada about a three months ago and I'm currently in grade 11. I cant take IB classes because I would have had to apply in grade 10 (and this is the only challenging program at my school) and un top of that I'll have a hole in my transcript of a semester that i wasn't in school. Would this be of major disadvantage to me? and if yes, is there anything i can still do about it then?
