Twofer: GPA/Classes

(I don't know if this is the right place to put it, but...)

Background: My school operates on a trimester system, and most classes offer 1 credit towards graduation, earning .5 credits per each trimester the class is taken, and so you take 5 classes (2.5 credits) per trimester, meaning that you take classes 1-2 trimesters of the year, instead of all year.

This Year (Freshman/9th), I took -- Not including study halls or other ungraded credits.

1 AP class (HuG) - 94%

1 Pre-AP Class (English) - 93%

1 Honours class (Spanish) - 94.5%

2 Integrated Classes (Math/Science) - 100%/95%

2 Health/Gym classes (Health/Gym) - 96%/Didn't Finish Any Trimesters Yet

2 Electives (Creative Writing/Foundations of Art) - 97%/95%

As of the end of Trimester 2, I believe I have a weighted GPA of 4.22 with 5 credits earned.

Q1: What would my unweighed GPA be?

Q2: I am interested and somewhat passionate about criminal justice. There is an AP Psychology class that I was considering to take next year, and was interested in it because it (may or may not) talk about interrogation methods a little bit. I'm already going to take AP US History and a few honours classes, and was told that Psychology would be "boring" and very hard work. Do you have any advice?

Future goals: Bachelors in Political Science (Manoa), Masters in G.I.S. (Denver), PhD in European History (?); Maybe go into a job relating to history or politics, a history teacher?

I took AP Psych at my school and it was my most favorite class I have taken. That being said, it is not for everyone. Much of the course is term memorization and application such as the Scapegoat Theory or the parts of the brain and how a person might change if that region was affected. Interrogation methods are not part of the curriculum, but that doesn't mean your teacher won't have an activity associated with it. AP Psychology gives you an overview of how our brains develop, what motivates us, and why/how we interact with each other.

This is my spiel if you are looking to take the course for personal interests, however I would recommend it to all high school students. Passing the AP Psych test gets you out of Psych 101 at a university which is typically required in some form as a Gen Ed. Taking it in high school allows you to take higher level courses your first year and advance your # of credits. More credits = higher standing (freshman, sophomore, etc.) = first pick for things like classes, living arrangements, etc.
