I am going to be graduating one year early so instead of being class of 2026 I will be class of 2025. I am currently a sophomore and my unweighted gpa is a 3.2 (not considering 2nd semester yet ). I am trying my hardest to get it up but I just want to know if there’s anything I can do to give myself a better chance at getting into a good school. I also have to consider going with an advanced diploma or a standard one because I was told that I wouldn’t be able to graduate then until the summer after so i wouldn’t even get a graduation. I was also considering doing a year at community college and then transferring so then I could have 2 chances at getting into my preferred school. I also have limited support from my school counselor as I was discouraged the entire time and told I would have less opportunities and “there’s 4 years of high school for a reason.”
Since you still have a year, keep doing your best to get your GPA up. I don't know anything about advanced vs standard diplomas, so I can't give any advice on that. If you don't get into your preferred school next year, take a year of community college and find an internship you're interested in.
Out of personal experience, my best advice is to take your 2025-26 year of high school. Look into more IB and AP classes, and see if there are any concurrent enrollment opportunities with your school district (they are so much better than AP and IB). Wait until the fall and see how you're doing. I also recommend talking to some admissions counselors and college students, because they've got a much better view of how graduating early will affect your college chances
