What are good ECs for future Bio/PreMed Majors?

I am a freshman in hish school but the school year is basically over and my stats so far aren't good. I have a 3.6 GPA, (No SAT/ACT), and no extracurriculars whatsoever. Later this year I turn 15 and I want to know what ECs are available in the DMV area. I would like to go to a school like Yale, Princeton, Georgetown, or Johns Hopkins one day, so this is really important to me. Thank you!

Hey @ivyleaguelover ! As a freshman that also values the importance of going to a good college, I will help you! First, make sure you take some AP classes, AP classes are good GPA boosters, but they are also quite hard, so make sure to factor that in. There are also a lot of science AP classes like APES, APCHEM, and more. Secondly, practice for your SAT/ACT.

For the ECs you are looking for, I used the collegevine AI to help view ECs specific for science.

1. Volunteering at a local hospital or clinic

2. Participating in a science or health-focused club at your school (e.g. HOSA, Science Olympiad, or Biology Club)

3. Conducting independent scientific research or participating in a research internship

4. Participating in a summer science or pre-med program for high school students

I hope this helps you! And good luck!
