IB versus AP weighting
Answered

I’ve heard that certain colleges weight IB courses differently than their AP equivalents, is that actually the case? My school only offers IB for upperclassmen, and honors for underclassmen like myself, and I do plan to complete the IB diploma (as it’s the primary reason I came to my current school).Would this heavily impact my chances versus someone with similar AP qualifications?

I am not sure if it will affect your chances. If the college knows that your school only offered honors and IB, there will be some grace for that. IB was the only thing available and you took it. If there is a section on your application for other information or notes, add a brief statement politely sharing that your school did not offer AP. I personally cannot take AP either, so I went the dual enrollment route. Same idea- you found and did what you could, namely IB. If the college doesn't respect that, that is not really your problem :) They normally have some understanding for surrounding circumstances. And who knows? Admission officers may be so sick of seeing AP that they perk up at something else. Idk if that would really happen, but I would feel that way if I had to go through 1000's of applications.

Universities are aware of what classes are offered at your high school, so if your school only offers IB courses, they will know that. Also, I am not sure if this is 100% universal, but from my experience, IB is typically seen as more "prestigious" than APs.
