Will I get into TAMU Business school? Any advice
Answered

I’m an African high school junior who is in an early college competitive high school in Texas. I’m rank 40/96 (working on it) but I am on track to getting my associates degree by the time I graduate high school (I currently have 19 college credits).

I am the treasurer for science Olympiad, student body secretary, in 2 college readiness programs, and I have a part time job serving food to residents at a retirement home. I also take care of my sister full time (she has low functioning Down syndrome and needs to be watched 24/7)

I was planning on doing test optional because I’m not the best tester (my psat was 900)

My GPA is a 3.7 UW and a 4.4 W

will I get in even if I’m not top 10%? I really wanna major in accounting at TAMU.

Any tips to improve?

First, it all depends on which accounting course you'd like to do. There is:

1.) Professional Program In Accounting (PPA)

2.) MS Accounting

3.) MS Accounting (Flex Online)

If you don't know which one to choose, you can go to the website I will post on my answer; it should send you to TAMU's website.

mays.tamu.edu/departments/accounting/

According to my research, TAMU does NOT have a minimum GPA or SAT/ACT REQUIREMENTS for Freshman admissions(you can turn in your ACT/SAT score without worrying!). TAMU admissions for Freshmen are based off of HOW WELL you did in the SAT/ACT(you won't be rejected if you have a low grade; it's just to see how well you are doing), the admission essays(perhaps about you and why you want to major in accounting; What makes you passionate about accounting?), a Self-Reported Academic Record(SRAR) OR a transcript if you are exempt from the SRAR, and what class rank you are in(Perhaps just work on your class rank to at least 25, 20, 15 or above? I believe that would be impressive to the school!). The school does not show anything else relating to what a student needs for entering the school).

Here is what I got from the school: "Applicants interested in studying Accounting at Texas A&M University are highly encouraged to apply as freshmen. Taking ACCT 229 at Texas A&M is highly recommended. Transfer students are admitted for summer or fall semesters only, and Mays admits 100 BUAD transfer students each year. Applicants need a grade of 'A' in most courses to be competitive, and those who show a pattern of withdrawing from and/or repeating courses are less competitive. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission, as the entire record is reviewed for consistency in completing all attempted coursework and grades."

I tried asking about your college credits helping in the application process, and writing an email to the school would be better.

In conclusion, you SHOULD be on the right track; perhaps just get to top 25, 20, or 15? Try to get as HIGH AS YOU CAN in your class! Besides that, everything should be okay! I hope you get into TAMU Business School, and I hope everything goes well in the application process! I hope I didn't overwhelm you with all of this information! I usually do TONS of research for questions like these lol!

I wouldn't worry abt it atm if you havent even taken act or sat yet. But, so far, u seem like a good student and every college reviews every application (if ur top 10% or not) u should use the chancing on this website
