Admissions Advice

Pre-calculus & the Ivy league
Answered

I'm applying to Yale next November, and I'm coming up on my senior year. I skipped a year so I have a choice between three math classes; Pre calculus, Physics, and Algebra 2. While I'm not bad at math I strongly dislike it, and I'd much rather take Algebra 2 but I'm worried that if I do I won't be a very competitive applicant when I apply to top schools, I'm majoring in Psychology and Sociology (or Crimonology), I've self studied for 4 AP exams, I've taken 6 college courses, and I'm very active in my school community (clubs, fundraisers, etc) I'm just worried that all my efforts might be belittled if I don't take a advanced math course? Am I stressing over nothing or should I just suck it up and take Calc/Physics?

You skipped a year but are taking grade appropriate math classes? The ivy league definitely wants to see calculus, but also algebra. At my school you have to take algebra ii as a prerequisite for precalc so I feel like you have a unique situation. I bet your counselor will know what has worked best with other students who were in the same situation as you at your school specifically.
