My high school started offering a number of dual enrollment courses in affiliation with a few local universities. However the courses are taught at the high school by high school teachers and don't seem all that different than the regular high school version of the class. Would colleges care at all that I took these dual enrollment classes?
I would absolutely recommend that you take the dual enrollment classes. Dual enrollment always looks great on college applications and if they don't seem that much different than the high school version, that might give you a better chance at passing or excelling in the class. I would totally take it if it is something that you are interested in.
While they are taught by high school teachers - those teachers must hold a masters degree and dual credit certification (at least in Texas), in order to teach those subjects. Dual Credit or Dual Enrollment is always seen as more challenging than other courses, with the exception of AP courses. If the choice is between Dual Credit or AP - either is fine. If it's between Dual Credit and on-level, or generic advances - then the dual credit will appear more challenging. The goal is take the most challenging courses available.
