Worrying about SAT... should I be?
Answered

I'm a current senior already signed up to retake in September, but I'm very nervous about my application if my score doesn't get up to where I'd like it to be. I took it this past spring and scored a 1470. I always get 1500+ on practice tests, and my split was mostly equal (only ten-point difference).

Point is, Yale is my dream school. I know their average SAT is somewhat lower than other Ivies, but I'm still nervous it'll be a weak point on my application if it's not at least a 1520. My other application materials will be very strong - I know I'm top 10% (most likely top 1-3%) in my class, near-perfect grades (3.9 GPA), 12 AP's by graduation, and extremely strong, committed extracurriculars that relate to my interests and have that performing arts aspect Yale likes to see. I also come from a rural, small-town background with a school SAT average of around 1100.

Should I be worried about my score being a weak point, or am I fine considering the rest of my application??

First of all, don't worry, you got this! Second, if you are consistently scoring 1500+ on practice tests then you will probably score around that area. The only thing you need to worry about is not stressing. If you stress too much, it will affect how well you do. Also, good luck on your admissions and hope you get into Yale!
