reaching out to admissions officers

is it a bad idea to reach out to admissions officers asking specific application questions?

like for example, could i ask an officer if i should submit my ACT scores to their school?

thanks!

If the question is something you can find an answer to online, probably not. You can search "should I submit ACT scores to [name] university" and the answer will show up, so that's not a good question and can just be seen as unnecessary/time-wasting. But if you have specific questions about your degree, a program, or something else you can't find online, emailing them can be useful because you 1) get the question answered and 2) demonstrate interest.

To be honest, you could definitely reach out to your assigned admissions counselors with application questions I just did and my counselor replied quickly and answered my question. If it's something that you really need help with that's great. You could probably ask any questions, so the question is should. It's not a bad idea though, it really just depends on your specific circumstances.
