It sounds like you have a well-rounded profile with strong academics, extracurriculars, and community service. Your Early Decision (ED) application to Southern Methodist University (SMU) can certainly enhance your chances, as ED often shows a high level of commitment to the school, which can be a factor in the admissions decision.
As for your SAT score, a 1390 is competitive, but retaking it could potentially increase your chances. SMU's middle 50% SAT range is typically around 1340-1510, so improving your score could position you more favorably within that range. Are you primarily focusing on the math or evidence-based reading and writing sections for your retake, or both? I can help you think through strategies for preparing to retake the SAT if you’re unsure where to focus.
To keep this community safe and supportive:
I'm trying to improve both: 690 on math and 700 on reading. I'm currently doing practice on oneprep and I would really appreciate Desmos tips and reading strategies because the 1390 was the 1st time I took it and I had so many unanswered questions that I had to guess with like 5 minutes left. Thanks :)
