So your own research is not a feasible EC unless you do it in the style of a blog but there’s no way to do your own research and have it be published. The chances of that are astronomically low. You’d likely have a better shot getting into all of the ivies plus MIT and Stanford.

As for other economic related clubs there is DECA and if you are interested in a leadership position you may want to look at joining or founding a stock market club. You can use various online activities to simulate a real stock market. Look at marketwatch.com as that’s the best resource in my mind.
