What extracurricular activities can I engage in? Is leadership required?
Answered

I'm in 9 th grade.

I'm worried that I won't have good extracurricular activities to go on my college application. I'm currently in Colorguard and a pen pal club, and and i'm not comfortable with leadership roles. I would like to major in neuroscience or neurobiology, what activities can I try?

hello! you could maybe try to be captain of your color-guard team, volunteer at your local hospital when you come of age. You can participate in science olympiad, or make it if they don't have it in your school. Definitely do science/medical-based activities, which will make your college application look good, but the most important thing is to do the activities that you love, do things that you like to do, or form a club based on your interests, and gain leadership in those types of clubs, which will show colleges your personality and you can lead and do things that you love.

You can start an organization about something you're passionate about. Create a youtube channel, blog, or something like that. Try to take initiative and break out of your shell, it could even be what you write about for your future college essay. What are your hobbies? If you're interested in writing, podcasting, and mental health, you could join my organization.
