How many years of foreign language required to take in high school for college admissions?

How many years of foreign language required to take in high school for college admissions? - I am in high school sophomore and took 2 years of foreign language in high school ( 9th and 10th) and in middle school. Is this a good idea not to continue in 11th grade and take different course?

It depends on what kind of college you wish to attend.

If you are an average high school student and wish to attend an average college or university then 2 years of a foreign language are adequate. If you are targeting a highly competitive college or something like an elite college or Ivy league university then you should have 3 full years of 1 language, preferably 4. Some students apply to such schools with 5 years of a foreign language or 2 languages (3 years each).

Hope that is helpful in your decision making.

For most high schools the A-G requirements are 2 years to graduate and that’s the same to get into colleges. You should also make sure that both years are of the same language ie. Spanish I and Spanish II. I think you taking it twice in college and once in middle school is very good but if your looking to get into a bigger school it could set you ahead to take a 3rd year if you did well in the other years. but 2 years is perfectly fine.
