Can I commit to William and Mary and then transfer to Williams College?

If I get offered a full athletic scholarship to William and Mary, and the coach at Williams College really wants me on their team but can't offer me any scholarships, which college should I go to? Could I commit to William and Mary and then transfer to Williams College?

If you need funding for college I would go to the full ride at William & Mary which is one of the best public liberal arts colleges in America.

My question to you is what assurance do you have to get any athletic scholarship money when you transfer to Williams? If they have no budget now, why would they have funds in a year from now? Am I missing something in your question? Did the Williams coach tell you if you transfer you'll get a full ride at Williams or something?

Hi! What I meant was that to make college more affordable, could I take the full ride for one year, then use that saved up money to help pay for my next three years at Williams?

Honestly, that sounds unethical. If W&M are giving you a coveted spot at one of the finest Liberal Arts Colleges for the expectation that you attend the school and represent them on their teams and you knowingly are going to bail after 9 months, then I don't think you are holding up your end of the deal. If you are only using them to play 1 season in order to springboard off to Williams, your reputation may be viewed as suspect and tarnished. I can't imagine the William coach supporting that.
