It's recommended to only include your resume in your applications if colleges specifically ask for it (allow you to upload it) and it contains new information than what's already in your application. If your resume is just repeating the same information from the rest of your common app application, admissions officers will probably be a little annoyed and it will take away time they could spend looking at the rest of your application.

I agree with @ajdekon here. I would advise only attaching your resume when a school requests it. In this case, if a school says you have an "optional" resume submission I would go for it.

Resumes, especially for high schoolers, tend to be the same information that they will include in other elements of their overall application -- especially since the Common App is so comprehensive. If there is something that really is important to you then I would recommend that you use the application spaces (essays, EC list) to show it off!

Hope this helps!
