Can Change My Decision After May 1st?
Answered

My family and I are negotiating financial aid still with university B, and they have a flexible deadline. However, I just submit my deposit for university A, because their tuition is lower for me, as of right now. I don't know if there's a guarantee that university B will lower their tuition more for me, so we decided to secure the safer option. Is it okay for us to continue to negotiate with university B and see if they'll lower their tuition more? If they do, and we change our minds on which university I should go to, is it ok for me to withdraw my enrollment from university A and enroll in university B?

Hey,

So it is legal and colleges can not force you to attend but here is what I can say for sure.

You will lose your deposit paid to university A and this usually holds your spot so you would also potentially lose your sport in university A in most if not all cases

As long as you didn't apply to university A under Early Decision (binding) you can de-commit and commit to university B but that is contingent on the fact that the final date to commit to university B has not passed

This is a complicated matter and you should, in my opinion and if you feel safe about it, talk to university B about the situation, and possibly even A but what i've said above is what I know

Good luck!

If you want more help you could talk to the admissions advisor at either your school or one of the colleges (or counselor at your school)
