Do internships count as extracurriculars if they take place in the summer?

Do you talk about your internship(s) in the extracurricular portion of the application? Or somewhere else?

Yes, internships count regardless of when they occur in the year! Internships would go on the extracurricular portion of your CommonApp/Coalition App. Make sure to keep track of # hours per day and how many weeks you spend at the internship at such a case.

Note, if you do end up having a lot of extracurriculars, you could put it in the additional information session or an essay if it means a lot to you. Just don't repeat the information anywhere, unless it is a big part of your high school experience (then its okay to elaborate since that shows what is meaningful to you).

Yes! For example, if you have a club that meets over the summer it's still technically an extracurricular. If you do volunteer hours over the summer it's still extracurricular. So if you do any activities over the summer you can include them as extracurriculars so please don't forget to do that when you apply.
