Hi! I am a freshmen in HS, wanting to know more about Standardized test.

I had a question about SAT/ACT in particular, I was just wondering will schools be test optional until 2024.. because that's when I graduate..

So some colleges will be test optional forever but some won't. It really depends on which colleges you want to apply to, so I recommend going to the websites of colleges you want to apply to and seeing if they require standardized testing for you.

Most colleges will be test-optional. The overall trend is that more and more colleges are moving towards that as they find it easier to make equitable college decisions for low-income and minority applicants. Additionally, they are realizing that standardized test scores are not the most important thing in an application, and are taking a more holistic view. If you want to be safe, take it anyway. It could also just strengthen your application if you do well, even if you don't need it. On the other hand, if you have a few colleges that you already know you like, look at their test policy and it will tell you if they are just doing it for COVID , or if they have moved to test-optional for good.

Hope this helps! Good luck in high school, man.
