Why does the karma needed for essay reviews change very frequently from 10 to 20 to 0?

Karma points required changes according to the demand for essay reviews.

So during peak demand where there is a backlog of reviewers, CV may charge 20 karma. If there is no line, then they might charge 0 Karma.

I was informed it was a pure supply and demand function. Hope that helps.
