Admissions Advice

Will going to a top-tier PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL actually hurt your college admission chances?

My dream college since forever has been Harvard U, but I'm worried that going to a high end private highschool will hurt my chances. Because, ivies seem to accept people with 'sob stories'...

NOTE: I don't want to offend anyone, but this is just the economical status I was born in. I understand that millions of kids don't even have access to a public school. Please don't get offended :)

Nope, your school will definitely not hurt your chances. In fact, going to a top private school may increase your chances since many of them are feeders and have good reputations. Also sob stories don’t get people in to colleges. Yes they show to colleges that you have to strength and determination to succeed, but there are many other ways to show that. Don’t be worried, you definitely won’t be “punished” for your economic status if you are rich.

Hey! I would say not really - there are pros and cons to going to your zoned public school versus a private high school, but it shouldn't really have a big effect - simply WHAT you do at a high school is what really matters and how you take advantage of opportunities offered to you. Hope this helps!
