How many APs Should I take sophomore year?

I took one AP as a freshman, AP chem, and it wasn't too bad. I am thinking of taking 5 APs this year: 3 self-study (Psychology, Human Geography, and Macroeconomics) and 2 in class (Biology and APUSH). Is it too much, or is it manageable?

Hi there, as an upcoming sophomore, I’m taking 4 and I’ll be fine, you probably, considering you took AP Chem as a freshman, will be fine! AP Human isn’t that bad, just some confusing parts if you don’t straighten it out, Good Luck! Also, how can you self study? We don’t got that where I’m at, serious willpower and commitment :D

I self study by buying the textbook and going through the course on my own (if there's a teacher at your school for that course, you can ask them questions even though they aren't teaching you that class). Then, I get a review book and take some practice exams, and make sure I'm prepared! If you want to do that, make sure you sign up for the exam :)

That’s so lucky, usually we have to take the class before we can take the exam, but I’ll ask my principal and guidance counselor if it’s possible (Idk why they make us take the class to take the exam)

@keertana.24 Wait, how are you allowed to sign up for APs if you're self-studying? The counselor at my school told us we couldn't do that because of a "high fail rate". Is there a way to work around this?

I'm not completely sure about your school, but I know someone who did it at my school and they were allowed. Maybe you can ask if anyone else at your school self-studied an AP?
